Anxiety disorders are the most common mental health disorders in the United States, affecting 40 million adults. That’s 18% of the population! Despite how common they are, anxiety disorders are often misunderstood and misrepresented. People with anxiety disorders are not simply people who are overly “worried” or “stressed out.” They experience intense, disabling symptoms that can make it difficult to function in daily life. Anxiety disorders are divided into several unique types. Each affects the sufferer differently and may require specific treatment. Getting a correct diagnosis can help you target the treatment more specifically.

Our team of experienced and licensed clinicians offer evidence-based approaches to treat the symptoms of Anxiety Disorders, such as:
Psychotherapy is the process of psychologists and patients working together to identify specific concerns and develop techniques to try and treat those concerns. Patients can expect to practice their new skills in a clinical setting and put them to use in real-world situations.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) helps replace negative, ingrained thoughts that may be triggering with more realistic thought processes. Patients can begin to climb out of the dark hole of anxious thinking and control their reactions to anything causing their anxiety.
Medication is a safe and effective way to treat anxiety disorders that have been used for decades. Researchers have improved modern medications to maximize benefits and minimize the side effects of Anxiety. While some anxiety medication works to prevent your symptoms, other medications are designed to neutralize the symptoms after they occur.

I was at this outpatient program for a long time and as someone who has been in and out of treatment, I have never experienced a program like this before. They will do everything they can to support you and set you up for success, whatever that looks like for you. They have helped me when I felt like I didn’t deserve it, have taught me how to ask for help when I need it and have helped me get back on my feet. The staff here are out of this world!!! (All BHTs) To be transparent, I had one very bad experience with a staff member during my time there as well as one psychiatrist (no longer employed by MHC) but that was MY experience. I do not recommend passing up on this program because of that. A couple of the therapists/CM (Laci, Stacy & Arrica) here have single handedly helped save me from myself and both owners Keith and Ryan have really had my best interest in mind at the darkest times. I have MHC to thank because of that.Posted on AdelynnTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. A friendly mental health program with many resources and a proven track record of helping clients reach their goals and move forward with their lives. After graduating from residential treatment, I needed further services to help scaffold my progress and re-entry into the world. I wanted a place that was LGBTQ-inclusive, community-focused, and connected to resources in the San Diego area, and I found all of that at MHC. I was a client for about 22 months at various levels of care, and I truly believe the time and support I received helped prevent relapse and a return to residential treatment. The program shines in how much it invests in clients. Outings, help with finding work, and celebrating holidays together helped re-establish a sense of normalcy. Access to multiple modalities like EMDR, Brainspotting, and neurofeedback/EEG biofeedback also added meaningful depth to trauma healing. One area for growth is training and sensitivity when working with transgender clients. While the program is well-intentioned and affirming in its values, more consistent education in this area would strengthen the experience for trans clients. Overall, I’m grateful for my time at MHC and would recommend it to anyone seeking long-term, community-based mental health support. In terms of touch much it invests in clients it is top tier for the San Diego area!Posted on MichaelTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. First off I want to say this is an amazing program, but it is what you make it you have to surrender to the help as well. I was at Both residential and the outpatient program, I can honestly I would not be where I’m at today without the help of this program, the resources available and the staff. Lacy, she was in charge of the program that went on in the center, she cared for everyone as an individual and never made anyone feel unseen. The program also offered an outlet at the gym while I was there and even free MMA classes at the time. The mental health services provided to me were beyond helpful. The guidance groups gave me were also very impactful. The houses were Very Nice, clean and kept stocked with lots of good food. I’d recommend anyone seeking treatment to give this place a shot.Posted on Sarah BurchTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. My experience at the Mental Health Center of San Diego was truly life-changing. My therapist, Stacy, and case manager, Arrica, were both incredibly supportive, compassionate, and professional throughout my time there. I would come to them in so many different forms; they accepted and cared for me in all of them. Stacy creates a safe, nonjudgmental space where I feel heard and understood. She helped me develop healthier coping skills and gain clarity during some really challenging moments. My case manager, Arrica, was amazing—organized, responsive, and genuinely invested in my well-being. She helped me navigate resources and next steps in a way that felt manageable and empowering. It is incredible how much they genuinely care for their clients. Experiencing that love and care was truly a gift. I’m very grateful for the support I’ve received and would absolutely recommend this center to anyone seeking thoughtful, consistent mental health care. Thank you to Stacy, Arrica, and the rest of MHC for saving my life.
