Unfortunately, many people with PTSD do not receive the treatment they need. This can be due to a lack of awareness or understanding of the condition, stigma, or financial barriers. While there is no one-size-fits-all approach to treatment, there are a number of options we use that can be effective in managing symptoms and helping people to live productive, fulfilling lives, including:
Cognitive behavioral therapy is a type of therapy that focuses on helping people identify and change negative thoughts and behaviors. CBT has been shown to be an effective treatment for PTSD. During CBT sessions, a therapist will work with the patient to identify negative thought patterns and replace them with more positive ones.
EMDR is a type of therapy that uses eye movements to help the brain process and heal from trauma. EMDR has been shown to be an effective treatment for PTSD. During EMDR sessions, the therapist will have the patient move their eyes back and forth while thinking about or recalling their traumatic experience. The therapist will also guide the patient in identifying any negative beliefs they have about themselves as a result of the trauma.
There are several types of medication that can be used to treat PTSD. Anti-depressants are often prescribed to help manage symptoms of depression and anxiety. Antipsychotics may also be prescribed to help with intrusive thoughts and flashbacks.

I was at MHC for over a year. Residential was one of the best ones I’ve been to. PHP and iop were really great. The php staff have made this program work so well. I’ll always be grateful for MHC.Posted on Tyler GloverTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. This is a program that really cares about your needs as an individual. I was a client at MHC San Diego and cannot recommend their program enough. The staff, therapists, and psychiatric nurse practitioner saved my life truly. I was a mess and resistant to treatment long term. After having a week in the program I knew I was where I needed to be. The thoroughness and thoughtfulness that goes into each day is above board and excelled me into a better life. I am forever grateful and honored to have been apart of such a program. If you are in a space reluctant to get help, I encourage anyone and everyone to jump in and embrace the program to the fullest. You never know the life changing improvements and health that can come from it. I know for me it improved my life drastically and put me on a better path for the future. Thank you again MHC.Posted on Joe BondTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. It's greatPosted on Jason ThomasTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Very clean, coordinated, organized and professional facility. I stayed for 52 days, out of all the programs I’ve been to this is the first that I’ve grown an attachment towards and did not want to leave. The support that is given here is exceptional of a residential facility and helped me tremendously to get back on my feet and restore to a state of health.Posted on Carol RichardsonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google.
