Empowering Students Who Champion Mental Wellness

At the Mental Health Center of San Diego, we believe that lasting change in the world of mental health begins with education and empathy. As a center rooted in evidence-based treatment and compassionate care, we are dedicated not only to healing—but also to helping shape the future of mental health advocacy.

To support that vision, we are offering a $600 Mental Health Advocacy Scholarship to a student who demonstrates dedication to making a positive impact in the mental health field.

Scholarship Overview

Award Amount: $600
Application Deadline: January 3, 2026
Winner Announced: January 19, 2026

Eligibility: Open to U.S. high school seniors and college students (undergraduate) currently enrolled or accepted into an accredited college or university.

Who Should Apply?

We’re looking for students who:

Are pursuing studies in psychology, social work, counseling, behavioral science, public health, or any mental health-related field.

Have personal experience with mental health challenges or have witnessed the impact of mental illness in their family or community.
Are passionate about changing the way we talk about, understand, and support mental health.

How to Apply

Applicants must email the following:

A 500–750 word essay addressing the prompt:

“How have mental health or addiction experiences shaped your perspective, and how do you plan to make a difference in the future of mental health care?”
Proof of enrollment or acceptance (a current transcript, class schedule, or college/university acceptance letter).
